Shinji：Excuse me,but where's the rest room_
Saleswoman：Do you see those elevators over there?
Shinji：Yes.
Saleswoman：The ladies' room is to the right, and the man's room is to the left.

1.Excuse me,but ～
「すみませんが、恐れ入りますが、」他人に話しかけたり、ものを訪ねたりするときの決まり文句です。

「女性用のお手洗い」
4.men's room
「男性用のお手洗い」アメリカの公共施設で、便所はrest room と呼ばれ、men's room とladies' roomに分かれています。ladies,roomはpowder roomとも言います。学校などではlavatoryとか、boy's room、girl's roomなどと言います。
またハイウェーにある旅行者用の便所施設を総評してrest areaと言います。the johnと言うと俗語で便所のことです。
